It is difficult to understand how a dog can be a muse. Lolita, our stunning Composer of Music for Art, shares that her awareness of this potential in her canine companion to offer both inspiration and wisdom probably originated with her brief exploration of the martial arts.
As a girl, Lolita learned that each animal has a unique strength, a unique spirit which is fully conveyed by their physical postures. The martial arts analysed the postures of animals and created forms to emulate them. By practicing the various animal forms, we can tap into the power and spirit of the animals – a profound new source of strength for a human being.
In a similar vein, Lolita has taken the time over the years, and especially during her precious morning walks with Deuce the Spaniel, to observe his behaviors, his moods, his unique Spaniel stances and spirit.
Just as the martial artist seeks to tap into the unique powers of the animals in order to enhance her repertory of fighting techniques, so the creative artist continually seeks new ways to connect with the Creative Spirit in nature. And many artists have come to appreciate how much an appreciation and understanding of the animals can offer in terms of opening wide the creative channels.
This involvement with animals, and with nature, is a fundamental aspect of Lolita’s creative process. It is a powerful charger for her creative battery. Nature in general, and Deuce the Spaniel in particular, is Lolita’s creative Muse.
You should enjoy and richly benefit from the profound relationship you are developing with your own personal creative Muse.
